Novatug Winch
Since the carrousel tug can generate much higher forces in certain manoeuvres compared with
conventional tugs, the brake forces on the winch need to be on the upper end of what is available in
conventional winches.
A cost efficient, patented winch has therefore been developed consisting of two drum parts:
a centrical one for stowage of cable, and an eccentrical one with a small diameter for holding power.
This way, the winch can hold a towing wire under a lot of force using only a small brake mechanism.
Novatug Commissioned winch
For the first Newbuilds, Novatug has developed a custom built Escort winch in cooperation with the
reputable winch manufacturer Rapp Hydema from Norway. This winch has been built according to the
specification of the Owner and will have its own powerpacks to make it a stand alone system, suitable
to install on these specific Carrousels.
